Our primary focus is on business intelligence solutions

The way to delivering solutions that boost business efficiency often leads through the digitisation and automation of processes.

Data consolidation and integration, developing data warehouses and/or data lakes play an indispensable role in transforming data into information.

We support a better overview of processes through data visualisation and by configuring dashboards.

Our Vision

Science serving Business

Our goal is to recognise the value of data assets, to exploit the information they contain using statistical methods, and to put that to use for business purposes. Our primary focus includes forecasting and optimisation.

Our Mission

To help our clients grow their business through the statistical/mathematical modelling we provide with the expertise of our dedicated staff.

We believe that by optimising the use of resources, we also promote sustainability.

Our Values

We possess the know-how that is required to run successful business intelligence projects, which includes:

  • the ability to understand business problems and translate them into the language of IT.
  • high-standard statistical modelling capability and experience.
  • program development and testing experience.
  • proficiency in data quality, data consolidation and data cleaning.

Our history

In 1995, my then colleagues and I established an IT system among Hungarian insurers for sharing and verifying information on the validity of compulsory third-party liability motor insurance. At that time, the vast majority of people were not yet using the internet. Even Google’s all-conquering search engine was only launched one year later, in 1996. The term “data science” was unknown at that time, yet I would now call this first project of ours a data science application, as it was already configured as a web-based, interactive dashboard back then – in 1995 (!).

Although these events occurred two years before Planimeter Kft. was incorporated, they did, without a doubt, play a role in that – and I say this as the founding managing director of the company. The very first project has since been followed by hundreds more. As a statistician and programmer, it was a pleasure to be involved in solving each and every problem. Many people think that producing statistics is a dry, tedious task, one that perhaps does not require much expertise. At Planimeter, we see it differently: we have found a way to look at every statistical challenge as an activity demanding and releasing creative energies.

We can determine if a pharmaceutical product is better than its rivals on the market, whether the use of resources is optimal, and if not, we can articulate recommendations for more optimised use. We have the capacity to predict quantitative processes, while introducing additional derived statistical indicators to characterise the process.

We are able to get to the heart of the matter. Today, the problem with processing information is not having too little, but rather, too much data/information. Fortunately, statistics also has a methodology to adddress this, highlighting the essence or reducing dimensions. We respect the source of information, the data, and always exercise due respect and caution in transforming it into information.

By way of a chronological summary, here is our history in a nutshell: we were founded in 1997, with a core focus on designing and evaluating clinical trials from the outset. For the next eight to ten years, the statistical processing of the studies proceeded quietly, during which time we signed our first international contracts. The period prior to 2010 was characterised by three main ideas: a) a further increase in the volume of studies processed (a significant part of which was post-marketing surveys); b) the completion of our first online solutions in the form of an eCRF and a patient register; and c) successful participation in several data-mining projects, at this time still solely as a subcontractor.

In the period between 2005 and 2011, a conscious decision was made to focus on clinical research at the expense of post-marketing studies. At the same time, this also meant that we pivoted from the Hungarian market to international markets. During this period, there were years when the export share of our revenue exceeded 85%. It was also during this period that the number of our electronic solutions increased. We developed e-learning systems and even call-centre support solutions.

Between 2012 and 2018, we entered into a number of strategic alliances with other pharmaceutical actors, which continue to this day. The number of electronic solutions has continued to grow. After the first years of creating its way, Planimeter found its own voice and, in addition to a solid presence in the pharmaceutical industry, started to focus increasingly on delivering data science, and in particular dashboard solutions.

That is the path on which we continued over the past five years. In 2022, the company entered its twenty-sixth year of existence. To mark that, we summarised our track record: to date, we have been successfully involved in over 1,200 projects for more than 500 customers in twenty-three countries.
